PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior women's tennis player Natalia Barbery (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Evert Tennis Academy) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after posting a 2-2 record at last week's ITA Central Region Championships.
Barbery went 1-1 in singles action in addition to teaming with junior Sandra Maletin for a 1-1 record in the doubles main draw. Barbery earned a 6-4, 6-1 win in singles qualifying over Omaha's Natalie Lorentz before a second-round loss to Natsumi Kurahashi of Wichita State. In doubles action, Barbery and Maletin posted an 8-7 win in the first round of the Main Draw over a Creighton squad to reach the Round of 32, where the duo's run ended with a loss to an Iowa State tandem.
