Mason King making way back from two knee surgeries to Illinois State backfield

NORMAL — Mason King's long journey is not complete. His arduous recovery from two knee surgeries has not reached its conclusion.

Yet King is back on the field as the Illinois State football team goes through preseason practices, and he is grateful for the progress that has brought him there.

"I'm happy to be out here with my guys," King said earlier this week. "I feel good. I'm very blessed."

A transfer from Northern Illinois, King quickly emerged as ISU's top tailback in 2023, rushing for 980 yards and 14 touchdowns over 10 games.
