Markert Helps Braves Race By Loyola 72-45

PEORIA, Ill. – Sophomore Vanessa Markert (Mt. Sterling, Ill./Brown County) scored nine points in the opening four minutes and finished with a career-best 26 points to help the Bradley women's basketball to a convincing 72-45 victory over visiting Loyola Friday at Renaissance Coliseum.

The Braves shot 60.7 percent from the field in the first half and raced out to a commanding 45-16 lead at the break, behind 18 first-half points by Markert. Bradley led from wire-to-wire with Markert scoring seven points in the first two minutes of the contest. She added another hoop near the six-minute mark and had nine points during a 14-2 run by the Braves to open the game.
