ST. LOUIS – Illinois State junior Maria Toledo Bailey has earned her second career Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week honor, and the opening conference honor of the 2021-22 season.
Toledo Bailey, a native of Birmingham, England, finished in a tie for fourth place at the Redbird Invitational with a one-under tournament score of 215. The 215 is the second-lowest tournament score on a par-72 course for Illinois State since 1991-92, behind only the 214 put up by Illinois State Percy Family Hall of Fame member Samantha Richdale.
Of the eight MVC schools in the field, her score was the top individual, five strokes better than the next-closest MVC competitor.
