Returning to her hometown of Champaign on Saturday, Wallen registered 26 points and nine rebounds before a group of family and friends to lead the Redbirds past Illinois, 74-58.
“It was really special. It was probably like 30 to 40 people,” Wallen said of her State Farm Center fan club. “It was really exciting to see a big crowd of them in the stands.”
Wallen, who is averaging 16.3 points as the Redbirds have won two of three, joined the basketball team during last season after completing a four-year Redbird volleyball career.
