Just before tipoff of every Illinois State basketball game, senior guard Tony Wills makes a point to hug his head coach, Dan Muller.
“We have a very strong, good bond,” Wills said. “We tell each other we love each other.”
Prior to a recent game, Wills took a detour during warmups to go behind press row and shake hands with ISU athletic director Larry Lyons.
Following the same game — a victory — Wills fist-bumped or high-fived every member of game-day personnel he could find on his way to the locker room.
Tina and Harry Wills of Indianapolis are unable to attend many of their son’s games.
