Rising junior women's basketball student-athlete Kayel Newland is determined to make the most of her time at Illinois State. With goals of attending Physician Assistant (PA) school after receiving her bachelor's degree, Newland is making pointed decisions in how she spends her free time when she's not hanging with her Redbird teammates.
Newland knows that getting into highly competitive PA programs will demand prerequisites of volunteer hours and patient care hours. Keeping this in mind, Newland looked for ways to serve her community while at home to finish out the semester and found it with the American Red Cross.
