PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley University track and field athlete Kaitlyn Sheppard has been named this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday. Sheppard was honored after winning a conference championship in the women's 1500m event and placing second in the women's 5000m event at the MVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Carbondale.
The junior from Cheltenham, England, was one of three Braves to win a conference event at the Outdoor Championships. Sheppard's championship-winning 1500m run set a new MVC Championship record as she finished in 4:16.84. This is Sheppard's second MVC Championship of the season after she won the women's 3000m event at the Indoor Championships in March.
