Illinois State (6-6-2, 1-1-0) dropped a 4-0 decision to IUPUI (5-6-3, 2-1-1) Monday night. The Redbirds had been undefeated at home during the 2018 campaign and now move to 4-1-1 at Adelaide Street Field.
At halftime, both teams were scoreless with Illinois State controlling much of the possession. In the first period, the Redbirds outshot IUPUI 11-3 and 5-1 in shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper Haley Smith had one save in the first 45 minutes of play.
The Jaguars would break out the scoring a few minutes into the second half when sophomore Valentine Pursey would net a goal off a free kick.
