NORMAL — Illinois State junior guard Keyshawn Evans has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week after receiving all-tournament honors in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off at Myrtle Beach.
Evans averaged 22.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists as ISU went 2-1 in the tournament with wins over South Carolina and Tulsa. Evans was 21 of 36 from the field and 12 of 18 from 3-point range. He has bettered his previous career high of 16 points in all four games this season, including three games of 20 or more.
In the win over South Carolina, Evans made 3 of 6 from 3-point range and 8 of 11 free throws, scoring 17 points while dishing out three assists and grabbing four rebounds.
