NORMAL, Ill. – A group of Illinois State student-athletes raised $900 for My Block, My Hood, My City and the Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal from the car wash fundraiser they hosted on Sept. 25.
Track & field juniors Destiny White and Aanise Sajna were the co-organizers of the event, that had volunteers from both the Redbird track & field and tennis teams.
"We wanted to do something as athletes that would be positive for the community," White said.
The money was split evenly between My Block, My Hood, My City and the Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal, which were chosen based on their missions and what they do to benefit their communities.
