Illinois State wide receiver Spencer Schnell was not selected in the NFL Draft but has been invited to participate in a Chicago Bears rookie minicamp beginning Friday.
“My agent got a call from the Bears directly after the draft,” Schnell said Saturday. “If I don’t end up signing a contract with them, then I will head down to Tampa Bay for their rookie minicamp (May 9-12). They were both pretty excited to have me down.
Schnell finished his Redbird career fifth on the all-time receptions list with 175. He also compiled 2,030 career receiving yards.
Schnell followed in the footsteps of his father, Dave, a standout quarterback at Indiana.
