BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Illinois State men's golf squad got a two-over-par final round from freshman Pietro Pontiggia on Sunday afternoon, as the 'Birds closed the tournament in fourth place of 14 schools at the Hoosier Collegiate.
Only 49th-ranked Chattanooga (870), tournament host Indiana (879), and Valparaiso (889) finished ahead of the Redbirds' 896. Murray State (899), Dayton (902), Central Arkansas (905), DePaul (906), Butler (910), Eastern Michigan (911), Southern Illinois (913), IUPUI (920), Navy (923), and Central Michigan (935) filled in behind ISU in the field.
The Redbirds return to the course next weekend at the Boilermaker Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, April 15 and 16 with the MVC Championship following a weekend later at Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, Illinois.
