ISU baseball takes three of four from Washington

SEATTLE, Wash. — Illinois State's baseball team downed Washington, 5-4, late Monday night at Husky Ballpark to take three of four in the series.

It was the first series win over a Pac-12 Conference opponent in ISU history. The Redbirds improved to 8-5, while Washington dropped to 7-8.

ISU starter Matt Walker (2-0) allowed two runs on two hits and struck out a career-high eight in five innings. Rhett Rapshus pitched two scoreless innings, striking out four. Connor Peplow pitched the eighth and Friday night’s starter, Brady Huffman, pitched the ninth and picked up his first save of the season.
