NORMAL — Illinois State women's basketball coach Kristen Gillespie has signed a two-year contract extension through 2024, Director of Athletics Larry Lyons announced Tuesday.

“Kristen has made significant improvements in our women’s basketball program in a short period of time,” Lyons stated. “We look forward to competing for championships for years to come under her leadership.”

Gillespie is in her third season and led the squad to a 19-12 record last season. The 19 wins were the most in the last six seasons for the Redbirds and their 11-7 Missouri Valley Conference record was their best since 2012-13.
