NORMAL, Ill. – In a fall preview of Missouri Valley Conference action, Illinois State hosted the remainder of their conference opponents at the Redbird Invitational on Friday at Gregory Street Courts in Normal. The annual event was tweaked this year to mimic the previous MVC Individual Championships, which were previously held each fall but were discontinue this year.
The first day of action was not kind to the Redbirds, who were able to pick up just one win each in doubles and singles action on Friday. In doubles action to start the day, as the team of Nuria Sanz and Emma Lindh advanced in the bracket after picking up a win over UNI's Sudsaard and Peterson after a 3-1 retirement in Flight 2.
