NORMAL, Ill. – The Redbird's head coach Melinda Fischer announced the hiring of new assistant coach Elaine Heflin on Saturday morning. Heflin joins the softball staff after a two-year coaching stint at the University of Illinois at Chicago and as a decorated UIC softball alumna.
"We are very excited to welcome Elaine Heflin to our Redbird softball family," commented Coach Fischer. "She is a proven winner as an athlete being a three-time Horizon League Pitcher of the Year and as a 2nd year coach helping to guide UIC to a Horizon League Championship and a NCAA Regional berth last season.
