Illinois State Men Win First MVC Cross Country Title in 19 Years

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Illinois State men's cross country team won their first Missouri Valley Conference team title since 2002 in dominating fashion finishing with four runners in the top-five overall on Wednesday afternoon at Angel Mounds Cross Country Course.

Finishing with a team score of 24 points, the 'Birds were led by MVC individual champion Kevin Koski, who crossed the finish line with a time of 24:21.1, 11 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. The first Redbird to be crowned MVC champion since 2009 when Scott Krapf took first, Koski was named MVC Athlete of the Year and earns the auto-bid to the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday, March 15 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
