The Illinois State women's soccer team (2-4-2) fell 1-0 to Illinois (5-2) on Sunday afternoon at Illinois Soccer Stadium in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. The Fighting Illini now lead the all-time series between the in-state foes, 10-3-2. Junior goalkeeper Haley Smith had eight saves.
The game-winning goal for the Fighting Illini came in the 71st minute when Lauren Ciesla netted a goal on a cross from fellow senior Patricia George. It was Ciesla's first goal of the season. Jaelyn Cunningham had three saves in goal on the day for Illinois.
The 'Birds recorded seven shots with sophomore Natalie Vaughn-Low, redshirt sophomore Abby Basler and sophomore Alissa Ramsden all tallying shots on goal.
