SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – Sophomore Rachel Hickey is set to compete in the 1,500-meter run at the Pan American U20 Championships on Sunday, July 21 at 11:30 a.m. local time (12:30 p.m. CT) in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Hickey finished second in the 1,500 at the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships to qualify for the Pan American U20 Championships, despite it being the first time she had competed in the event.
In her first international competition, Hickey is one of two American women competing in the event in Costa Rica. Ten countries are represented in the 1,500, including Argentina, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Guyana, Mexico, Peru and the United States.
