NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State baseball third-year sophomore Hayden Jones agreed to a non-drafted free agent deal with the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday afternoon.
Jones will join fifth-year senior Colton Johnson, who was drafted in the 16th round by the Oakland Athletics, in the professional ranks from ISU's 2021 roster.
Jones, who transferred from Mississippi State and sat out the 2020 season, saw inconsistent playing time for the Redbirds in 2021, making 31 starts and appearing in 38 games.
Jones batted .230 to go with 13 extra-base hits, five home runs, 19 RBIs, and 15 runs scored in his Redbird career.
