ST. LOUIS – Freshman Kaity Weimerskirch has been tabbed the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Weimerskirch bolstered a team-high 43 digs to average 6.14 digs per set this weekend, as the Redbirds split with UNI and Drake. On Friday night against the Panthers, the starting libero collected a team-leading 19 digs, while contributing the second-most assists (6) – falling just a helper shy of her career high.
The Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, native returned to the court on Saturday and registered her eighth 20-plus dig performance of the conference slate, tallying a match-high 24 digs against the Bulldogs.
