NORMAL — Anderson Devonish and Jaelyn Keene were named Illinois State’s Athletes of the Year, while J.D. LaFayette and Kiley Walsh were named Scholar-Athletes of the Year on Sunday night at The Reggies, Illinois State's annual academic excellence awards ceremony sponsored by State Farm.
Devonish, a standout on Illinois State’s 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field championship team and 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field national qualifier, was named the Milt Weisbecker Male Athlete of the Year.
The Jill Hutchison Female Athlete of the Year honor went to Keene, who capped her career in 2017 as a four-time All-MVC First Team selection and four-time American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region Honorable Mention honoree.
