NORMAL — Former LeRoy High School basketball all-stater Matt Chastain has transferred to Illinois State, ISU coach Dan Muller announced Wednesday.
The 6-foot-6, 190-pound guard/forward played three games as a freshman at Loyola last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Chastain has enrolled at Illinois State as a redshirt freshman walk-on and cannot play in games or travel with the team during the 2017-18 season per NCAA Division I transfer rules.
He will be allowed to practice with the team and sit on the bench during games. Chastain will have three seasons of eligibility beginning with the 2018-19 season.
