NORMAL, Ill. – After a busy day of activities Tuesday, the Illinois State football team returned to the Hancock Stadium turf on Wednesday morning in helmets as the team continues its preparation for the upcoming season.
Practice Highlights:
- The special teams focus of the day was on the punt return team, with Kacper Rutkiewicz, Taylor Grimes and Jalen Carr each taking turns as the returners against the scout team coverage unit.
- Red Zone work was the focus of the 7-on-7 sessions, with each period beginning inside the 25-yard line and gradually moving closer to the goal line … Brady Davis was a combined 12-for-16 with multiple connections to Robert Gillum and touchdown passes to both Rutkiewicz and Grimes … Jefferson was 10-for-16, with multiple connections to Eric Rogers and touchdown passes to Grimes and Cole Blackman.
