Illinois State's basketball team will make its first appearance in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan as the 2017 field was unveiled Thursday.
The eight-team bracketed tournament, which is managed by ESPN Events, will be played Nov. 16, 17 and 19. Other teams in the field are Iowa State, South Carolina, Florida State, Boise State, Tulsa, Western Michigan and UTEP. Pairings will be announced later.
ISU will be making its third trip to Puerto Rico. The Redbirds previously participated in the San Juan Shootout in San Juan in 1995 and 1999, with ISU taking fifth place both times.
