Cole Cook Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore pitcher Cole Cook (Washington, Ill./Washington/Illinois Central) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after tossing a complete game shutout against Evansville Saturday.

Cook blanked the Purple Aces on five hits Saturday at Dozer Park, leading the Braves to a 6-0 victory in game two of the series. His performance was the first shutout effort by a Bradley pitcher since Elliot Ashbeck blanked Southern Illinois March 27, 2015. After a two-out single in the sixth, Cook retired 10 of Evansville's final 11 hitters with the lone runner to reach during the closing stretch on an eighth-inning error.
