PEORIA — Bradley University’s decision to deny access to longtime Journal Star basketball beat writer Dave Reynolds during its NCAA tournament team media day Friday drew reaction from across the nation.
Seems some folks in the BU athletic department held a grudge over coverage they perceived as not positive for the men’s hoops team.
And so the university, on the precipice of a shining moment in the NCAA tourney, went careening down a path of self-destruction.
Restricted coverage was not a good thing for Bradley fans, many of whom want coverage from their media.
“I was surprised, as I think everyone was,” said incoming USBWA director Malcolm Moran on Saturday.
