MURRAY, Ky. — Once inside Roy Stewart Stadium, the Illinois State football team has learned it needs to score and keep scoring.
After escaping with a 40-32 win in 2024, the Redbirds outslugged Murray State 46-32 in Missouri Valley Football Conference action Saturday before a crowd of 5,647.
No. 9-ranked ISU hiked its records to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the Valley. The Racers are 0-6 and 0-2 in league play.
"It was very difficult. We made it real difficult. We had to beat ourselves tonight," ISU coach Brock Spack said. "We didn't play very well on defense.
