‘Changes is good’: Valley coaches love the longer 3-point shot

The new NCAA rule extending the 3-point shot from 20 feet, 9 inches to 22-1 3/4 was met with unanimous approval by the men’s basketball coaches of the Missouri Valley Conference during Monday’s annual summer teleconference with league media.

“I think change is good,” said Bradley coach Brian Wardle. “I’m excited to have the new line. I think we have guys who can make that shot. It’s a difference of more than 15 inches that will definitely factor into shooting percentages. Defensively, you have to be up a little more in gaps. Hopefully it spreads defenses out more, opens up driving lanes and gets some post play back in the game.
