ST. LOUIS – For the second straight week, freshman Delainey Bryant has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week after her performance in the final weekend of conference play at Southern Illinois, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Illinois State's series with the Salukis got cut short and the teams were only able to manage a doubleheader on Saturday, May 7.
Bryant was 4-for-6 in the doubleheader with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Her double was her ninth of the season and came in the first game against the Salukis along with her RBI and her run scored.
