Baseball Takes Opener at McNeese State, 5-3

LAKE CHARLES, LA - It took 30.2 innings for McNeese State to score its first-ever runs against Bradley, but freshman CF Andy Shadid hit his first career home run and drove in three, lifting the Braves (4-4) to a 5-3 win against the host Cowboys (4-5) Friday night at Cowboy Diamond.

In the first-ever games between the two teams last season, Bradley pitching posted three straight shutouts for the bulk of a Missouri Valley Conference record 34.1 consecutive scoreless innings pitched. Bradley starter RHP Matt Dennis (W, 2-1) extended the series scoreless streak into the fourth inning Friday, before the Cowboys broke through with a pair of runs after a 2-out walk.
