Attendance at Arch Madness down, but commissioner touts Bradley

Although the overall attendance for the Missouri Valley Conference tournament, which totaled 35,293 last weekend, continued its downward spiral, MVC commissioner Doug Elgin remained upbeat about the future of the event.

The nine-game total was the fifth lowest in the tournament’s 30-year run in St. Louis. Last year’s crowds were just slightly higher at 35,706 and 2018 was slightly lower at 34,810. The lowest three attended tournaments — from 1991-93 — came in the first three years of the neutral-site event before the current facility was built.

Sunday’s title game drew 8,016, the fifth lowest all-time and the smallest in 20 years.
