NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State head softball coach Melinda Fischer announced on Tuesday the addition of Mike Armitage to her coaching staff. Armitage will enter his first season with the Redbirds in 2019 as a volunteer assistant coach for the program.
"We are very excited to have Mike (Armitage) join our staff," Fischer commented. "He brings in a really great and different perspective of the game, both as a player and coach. He is very passionate about the sport and teaching fundamentals on both sides of the ball. Mike has competed against some of the best teams in the men's game, which can be beneficial in a number of areas.
