A look back at Illinois State football's past FCS quarterfinal playoff appearances

The Illinois State football team has reached the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs for the sixth time with Saturday’s 11 a.m. game at No. 1-ranked North Dakota State.

Here’s a trip down memory lane to look at ISU’s other quarterfinal appearances.

1999: ISU 37, Hofstra 20: Quarterback Dusty Burk, who had taken over for injured starter Kevin Glenn, turned in one of the greatest performances in Redbird history. The redshirt freshman completed a sizzling 31 of 37 passes for 350 yards and added 54 yards on the ground to outduel Hofstra quarterback and future San Francisco 49ers draft pick Giovanni Carmazzi.
