CHAMPAIGN — It's not a guarantee Illinois will name a team MVP at its end of the year banquet. The Illini didn't last year in Brad Underwood's first season as coach, which was just the second time in program history (the 2007-08 season being the other) an MVP wasn't honored.
Options are aplenty, beat writer Scott Richey says in his weekly podcast, 'Inside Illini Basketball.' That's if Brad Underwood decides to name an MVP (he didn't last year). Richey also explains why it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing for Illinois to drop back into the first-day lineup at the Big Ten tournament.
