Three quarterbacks rank among the nation’s rushing touchdown leaders through three weeks, tying for second with six apiece behind Florida Atlantic running back Devin Singletary, a former Illinois commit. Two of those QBs play for Navy, which has attempted just 33 passes this season. The third QB is Penn State’s Trace McSorley, who has scored more TDs on the ground (6) than through the air (5) in 2018. That’s an offensive wrinkle Illinois has struggled to defend. It’s a wrinkle the Illini might also be without, as AJ Bush Jr. is still questionable to play.
