Whitman: No timetable on Nunn decision

CHAMPAIGN — Just more than two weeks, 15 days to be exact, passed from the time Leron Black pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault to when he was fully reinstated to the Illinois basketball team and suspended the first six games of the 2016-17 season.

Jaylon Tate was reinstated less than 24 hours after charges of domestic battery against him were dropped.

There continues to be no timetable, however, for a decision on Kendrick Nunn’s status moving forward. The Illinois senior pleaded guilty to a single count of simple battery on May 18 and remains indefinitely suspended.

“I think that we want to move as quickly as we can, but we want to be thorough and appropriate,” Illinois athletic director Josh Whitman told Jim Turpin on “Penny for Your Thoughts” Tuesday morning.
