CHAMPAIGN — Eight players have transferred from Illinois in Matt Bollant’s four seasons as coach. The eighth – and biggest hit — came Friday.
Sophomore center Chatrice White, the team’s leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker, has been granted her release and will transfer for the 2016-17 season. The All-Big Ten Second Team selection had a career year — averaging 18.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game — this past season. Illinois went 9-21 and 2-16 in the Big Ten.
“We granted Chatrice White a release from the Illinois Women’s Basketball program earlier this week and we wish her all the best in the future,” Bollant said in a statement.
