WATCH: Brandon Peters delivers first touchdown strike of Illini career

Illinois head coach Lovie Smith and co. named Brandon Peters the team’s starting quarterback and today he is proving why.

Through just over a quarter of play, Peters is 6-9 for 83 yards, including a ten yard score to Trevon Sidney.

Peters earned the starting job over Isaiah Williams among others, and has been showcasing his arm strength against Akron.

Whether the transfer from Michigan is evading pressure or making throws off of his back foot, every pass seems to be catchable for his receivers.

Peters also seems to be targeting Ricky Smalling frequently, displaying a potential dynamic duo for Illinois to rely on.
