EUGENE, Ore. — Cam Viney was able to celebrate his second-team All-America status in the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles at last year’s NCAA Championships with his Illini teammates.
There was more celebration when Viney teamed up with David Kendziera, Joe McAsey and D.J. Zahn to finish eighth in the 1,600 relay and earn first-team All-America honors.
This year’s NCAA Championships will be a solitary event for Viney. The Illinois senior qualified in the 400 hurdles again and will race in Wednesday night’s semifinals, slated for 8:30 p.m., but he’s the only Illini male competing at Hayward Field.
