The tournament is open to anyone in the world that has a 1.4 handicap index or lower. You can then compete in a local qualifier to advance to a regional qualifier.
In that regional qualifier, if you finish well enough you can qualify for the US Open.
This qualification process is exactly what current Illinois men’s golfers Nick Hardy and Charlie Danielson went through over the last couple of months.
Both players managed to get through both stages of qualifying and are now ready to tee off at the 116th US Open on Thursday, June 16.
