CHAMPAIGN — Stakeholders in what could be the biggest mixed-use development in downtown Champaign's history packed the Champaign City Council chambers Tuesday for a study session to determine the next steps for The Yards development.
There was, however, one notable absence: the University of Illinois' Division of Intercollegiate Athletics.
"I really can't get past not knowing what the DIA's investment in this project is going to be," council member Alicia Beck said during her comments on the $250 million project. "I need to know whether they're going to land monetarily, structurally and what their timeline is in terms of their commitment.
