QUEENS, N.Y. — Jeremiah Tilmon didn’t make a field goal for the first 26 minutes, 46 seconds of Friday’s Dick’s Sporting Goods High School Nationals semifinal against top-seeded Montverde (Fla.) Academy.
The 6-foot-10 five-star center and top Illinois recruiting target in the 2017 class didn’t make a field goal in the final 5:14 for La Lumiere (Ind.), either. But Tilmon’s one make in six attempts was a big one for the Lakers.
La Lumiere took a 40-39 lead when Tilmon scored relatively unchallenged on the right block, and the Lakers never trailed again in their 55-47 upset of the three-time defending tournament champions at Christ the King High School in Queens.
