UI roundup: Seymour qualifies for NCAA hurdles finals

EUGENE, Ore. — Pedrya Seymour will represent Illinois in the women’s 100-meter hurdles finals at the NCAA track and field championships after her time in Thursday’s semifinals was good enough to advance.

Seymour placed second in her heat and third of the eight qualifiers with a time of 12.86 seconds.
The hurdles finals will be contested Saturday. The Illini’s 400 relay team will not be joining Seymour in competition that day after placing 22nd in Thursday’s semifinals.

Two former area athletes also competed at the women’s NCAA Championships on Thursday.

St. Joseph-Ogden graduate Chelsea Blaase, representing Tennessee, placed fifth in the 10,000 run finals in 32:49.
