URBANA — University of Illinois basketball player Leron Black admitted Thursday that he threatened a bouncer at a campus nightclub with a knife two months ago.
The 20-year-old sophomore pleaded guilty in Champaign County Circuit Court to a less serious misdemeanor version of his original charge of aggravated assault stemming from his Feb. 18 arrest at the Canopy Club, 708 Goodwin Ave., U.
UI police earlier said Black pulled a folding knife late that Thursday night on a security guard, held it within a couple of inches of his face and declared he was “not afraid to cut somebody” because he was upset that he and his group had been asked to leave the club.
