Did you play Little League baseball in Champaign-Urbana?
If so, the C-U Kiwanis Club hopes to see you at next week's "20 Years Under the Lights" celebration at Zahnd Park, the site of the Twin City Tournament championship games since 1999. The menu on June 27 calls for complimentary hot dogs, chips and water (thanks to Meyer Capel); two high-quality games starting at 6 p.m. (broadcast by WDWS 1400-AM); and a whole lot of reminiscing (more than 25,000 youngsters have played Little League in C-U since games began in 1949).
The Kiwanis Club's donation of $56,000 allowed the kids to play under the lights at Zahnd Park, a nifty facility at the corner of Windsor and Duncan roads in southwest Champaign.
