Looking back at 2017: Dudek didn’t suffer a season-ending injury — two of which kept him out in 2015 and 2016 — but a pair of injuries robbed the Illini wide receiver of five games last fall. Dudek’s return, though, was a moment. After missing two straight seasons and going 981 days between games, the veteran receiver’s first catch of the season was a 16-yard touchdown from roommate/teammate Chayce Crouch in Illinois’ season opening win against Ball State.
