No. 37: Andrew Davis, TE
Why he’s important: The junior college transfer is entering his final season with the Illini. He won’t have to do much, either, to top his production from 2015. One of the taller Illini players, the 6-foot-6, 230-pound Davis caught five passes for 26 yards and a touchdown at Minnesota in his debut with Illinois last fall. The tight end position struggled at times to make much of a contribution in the passing game, an aspect new coach Lovie Smith will want corrected. Davis has a chance to find himself in key situations given likely starter Tyler White is coming off a torn ACL that ended his 2015 season prematurely.
