Why No. 7: Yes, the Cardinal got hit hard by graduation and defections and brings back just 12 starters. Fortunately, one of those is top Heisman Trophy candidate Christian McCaffrey. All the son of former NFL receiver Ed did last season was set an NCAA record for all-purpose yards. He ran for 2,109 and caught 45 passes. Shaw, who has led Stanford to at least a share of four Pac-12 North titles in his first five seasons, needs to figure out who will get the ball to McCaffrey.
